About Us

Waste Not Crew exists because people and the environment are being left without care.

Find out more

Across communities, we hear the same story again and again from people affected by hoarding and chronic disorganisation, and from professionals trying to support them: help is either unaffordable, unsuitable, or comes at the cost of dignity and environmental harm.

When support is available, it is often built around speed and disposal rather than safety, consent and sustainability.

Waste Not Crew was created in response to that reality.

What we learned from listening

Our work is shaped by ongoing conversations with people living in overwhelming spaces, alongside feedback from housing, social care, environmental and community organisations. From these conversations, a pattern is clear:

• people want support that doesn’t shame or rush them

• professionals want ethical options beyond enforcement or clearance

• communities don’t want usable items sent to landfill

• communities don’t want usable items sent to landfill

• environmental responsibility is rarely funded, despite being widely valued

Waste Not Crew exists to hold these needs together.

The gap we address

Many people cannot afford commercial clearance or are excluded because their situations are complex or slow-moving.

At the same time, the work required to reuse, repurpose and recycle responsibly is rarely resourced. People may be able to pay to have items removed, but not for the time, labour and coordination needed to keep materials out of landfill.

The result is a system that solves immediate problems by creating long-term environmental harm.

Waste Not Crew was created to fund and protect this essential, often invisible work.

Our approach

Our work is shaped by ongoing conversations with people living in overwhelming spaces, alongside fee

• people want support that doesn’t shame or rush them

• professionals want ethical options beyond enforcement or clearance

• communities don’t want usable items sent to landfill

• environmental responsibility is rarely funded, despite being widely valued

Waste Not Crew exists to hold these needs together.

Environmental responsibility as community care

Environmental harm does not happen in isolation.

Waste, pollution and landfill disproportionately affect communities already experiencing exclusion and poverty. Protecting the environment is part of protecting people.

By keeping resources in circulation and reducing unnecessary disposal, we support both community wellbeing and environmental sustainability.

Independence and accountability

Waste Not Crew operates as an independent, community-focused organisation.

Our funding model allows us to prioritise ethical practice, environmental responsibility and long-term impact over speed or volume.

We are accountable to the communities we serve, the environments we operate within, and the funders who support this work.

Looking ahead

We are starting in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, building a model rooted in community knowledge and lived experience.

Our aim is to demonstrate that support can be compassionate, accessible and environmentally responsible — without relying on shame, pressure or landfill.
